Muscle cars have long been in my blood. As a kid growing
up in Riverside, California, my fascination began when the
first Mustang was introduced in 1964. My father was also
very interested and Mom needed a new car soon. After a visit
to Warren Anderson Ford in Riverside a brand new 1966 Mustang
Beige Coupe with a 289 V8 became part of the family. At
the time, being only 11 years old I had to settle for collecting
the plastic toy Mustangs that were in Post Cereals. They
had Coupes, Convertibles and Fast Backs. The Camaros and
Firebirds Post Cereals collectables followed later.
During High School Muscle cars were abundant. The parking
lot had Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Pontiac GTOs, Chevelles,
Road Runners etc. The fastest car in High School was a 1966
Mustang Fastback with a built 289 Cobra Jet.
As an adult, after lesser cars, the Mustang GT 5.0 had my
interest. So in 1990 I bought a brand new Black Mustang
GT 5.0 5speed with a titanium gray leather interior. Man,
I have been hooked ever since. The Mustang grabbed my attention
as the most exciting car I ever have owned. The Saleen Mustangs
started grabbing my attention as well. The drop dead styling
and performance characteristics had me looking ahead .So
after 10 years the 5.0 went up for sale and sold the first
day advertised with the first phone call.
I was soon on my way to Galpin Ford to purchase my second
Black Mustang; a 2000 Saleen Mustang Coupe. A year after
owning the Saleen I attended my first Mustang show at Woodley
Park in Van Nuys. After leaving the park with my son Matt,
I felt I wanted to start entering car shows. I entered my
first show in September 2001; the Saleen Annual Car Show
- it was a blast. In October of 2001 my lovely wife Sari
bought me a 20th year anniversary present - a Super Charger.
